St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, the Los Angeles-based chapter of the national Meals on Wheels organization, has launched a new food truck called Cart For A Cause, which is a fund-raising initiative that serves gourmet meals crafted by the elite chefs of the Los Angeles culinary scene. For the full run, confirmed chefs include Alex Becker (Nobu West Hollywood), Susan Feniger (STREET), David Myers and Dong Choi (Comme Ça), Vinny Dotolo and Jon Shook (Animal), Josef Centeno (Lazy Ox Canteen), Eric Greenspan (The Foundry), Nicholas Peter (Little Door) and Sal Marino (Il Grano).
Starting on March 23rd and continuing every Tuesday through the fall, Cart For A Cause will travel across Los Angeles and surrounding communities selling meals created by some of Los Angeles’s preeminent chefs, some of whom are creating menu items exclusive to the cart. For $10, customers can purchase lunch and a drink, and all proceeds will go directly toward the St. Vincent Meals on Wheels organization.
For tomorrow’s launch, Cart For A Cause expects Alex Becker from Nobu West Hollywood and Jean Francois Meteigner from La Cachette Bistro. Other chefs are pending, so hopefully there will be some nice surprises.
If you have really gotten into the food truck scene here in Los Angeles, you shouldn’t need any excuse to check out Cart For A Cause. But the fact that all proceeds go to a great cause, there is no reason to miss this one. For ten bucks, it’s going to be nearly impossible to find a lineup of chefs as impressive as the one that Cart For A Cause has put together. See you there.
