You’re crazy. You’re review sounds like someone who moved to LA from NY and still bitches about “the pizza not being real pizza,” at some point you have to enjoy the food for what it is and not let the surrounding effect you so much. The place is not comfortable and the pickles suck...i agree. But the onion rings are the only beer battered onion rings I've ever tasted that actually taste like Beer! Those were good. The Umami burger is a perfect burger....The parmesan crisp is brilliant and creates a whole other texture that you don’t normally have on a burger. I found the meat extremely fresh. Btw, those are Coke Lights, not diet coke, and if you have traveled to abroad, you may have had them in the past…..they are different then diet coke since they use Saccharin as opposed to NutraSweet ...they are tasty, but i found it pretty silly to only have that as an option for soda...cool idea, but not really plausable. The valet parking is not cool, but if that's what we're basing “a good burger” on these days, then that’s a whole other problem. For me, the Umami is a great "premium" burger....I'll take it over Father's Office any day of the week....and from the sound of your post, i would imagine you hate that place more than anything. At least they let you have ketchup here! I live around the corner so I can’t resist picking up Umami when I drive by. Skip the pickels.

I agree. The setting is not exactly welcoming, as if comfort was uncool.
I enjoyed my burger, but it was overpriced and ultimatley underwhelming.
So far, I've been less than impressed with a number of the new upscale
burger joints I've tried. Seems as though Los Angeles will soon be overrun
by pretentious hamburgers. What's next, cupcakes?
