Does Los Angeles Have a Best Hot Dog?
Ever since Jewish Journal crowned Los Angeles the reigning king of delis, I got to thinking about hot dogs. I love a great hot dog, and the best I can ever remember having were the ones I ate at Katz’s deli in New York.

Katz’s is at least as well known for their hot dogs as they are for their pastrami, but I can’t think of a spot in Los Angeles that shares Katz’s passion for a great wiener. A good dog should be slightly crispy on the outside and snap as you bite into it. The bun should be slightly firm on the outside and light and airy on the inside.
Before anybody says anything, I know that Pink’s is Los Angeles’s answer to hot dogs… but is it? I love Pinks as much as anybody, but nearly everything on the menu smothers the dog with add-ons until it is virtually unrecognizable.
Also, let’s suppose for a moment that your ideal frankfurter isn’t the New York variety, but rather it’s the Chicago-style, everything-including-the-kitchen-sink dog.

Though this method of hot dog delivery isn’t my favorite, I can certainly appreciate its appeal. Do we have a good spot in Los Angeles for a killer Chicago dog?
Help me find Los Angeles’s greatest hot dog. I need your help!
